It’s a Date…
I used to say ‘I can’t wait to finally have a weekend for myself’ like it would magically appear out of nowhere without an ounce of thought or planning.
I used to get mad that those weekends never materialized.
As my life got fuller I began to make lists and plan and schedule ‘important’, ‘stuff I need to do’ and ‘things I don’t want to forget or miss’ on my calendar
What I have realized is that I didn’t consider or see myself important enough to put on the schedule, list, or plan.
Put yourself on the mother ‘effing schedule. Once a month. Once a week. Once a day. Whether it be just a block of unscripted time, getting your nails done, an hour wandering around Home Goods, or a walk to clear your head.
It may feel and sound selfish but so be it. You give waaay more than you receive.
